FAQ

If reapplying for the crowd controller and/or bodyguard function within 12 months of when they previously held the functions, it will just be necessary to complete the three ongoing (refresher) training units being Manage conflict through negotiation, Control persons using empty hand techniques and Provide advanced first aid.

If reapplying for the crowd controller and bodyguard functions more than 12 months after previously holding the functions, it will be necessary to complete CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations to add the crowd controller function and CPP31418 Certificate III in Close Protection Operations to add the bodyguard function back to an existing licence.
In order to add the security officer (cash in transit) function to an existing security provider licence, the applicant must complete a Security Providers Form 1-1 and indicate on the first page of the form that it is an upgrade application.

The fee payable is dependent on the functions already held on their licence. If the security officer function is already held on the licence i.e. security officer (unarmed), security officer (dog patrol) or security officer (monitoring), then the fee payable is $34.50 for a single function licence (if security officer is the only function) or $49.20 for a multiple function licence (if they hold another function such as crowd controller). If they do not currently hold the security officer function in any form on their licence, then the fee payable is $81.80.

The application form, as well as the training to add security officer (cash in transit) to a licence is stated on the OFT website (click here).

Please note, as the old training is no longer accepted, the applicant must supply the full training listed on the above OFT website.
