Persons wishing to become licensed security (unarmed), security (monitoring) and crowd controller in Queensland must have completed the 14 core competencies within the CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations course. This qualification reflects the role of a security officer, responsible for maintaining safety and security by patrolling, protecting or guarding property while unarmed, and screening entry, monitoring and removing persons from premises.
Target clients of this qualification are new entrants to the security industry seeking to obtain a security (unarmed), security (monitoring) and crowd controller license in Queensland. Legislation in Queensland requires persons working as security officers to be licensed. The Office of Fair Trading administers and issues licenses to successful applicants. Successful completion of CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations is a mandatory requirement for licensing.

The certificate will be delivered through a combination of self-paced learning and face to face group training and assessment. Please note, this course also requires students to complete pre-reading and online/external study in addition to the face to face workshop delivered over 7 consecutive days.
PRE-COURSE WORKBOOK – The pre-course workbook includes a course introduction and overview, where the student will receive information about study support, access to learning resources, flexible scheduling and delivery of training and assessment. Information will also be given to the student about information and communication technology and any other services deemed necessary to support learners to achieve competency.
During this pre-course phase of the course the participant will be on-line video conferencing and phone hook-up support, having access to over 52 videos relating to first aid and best practice in security operations.
FACE TO FACE TRAINING – This course requires participants to attend 7 full days of face-to-face training from 9am to 5pm. During the face-to-face training the participant will be required to complete the all remaining course underpinning knowledge and project scenario assessments.
The participant will then be assessed against the required competencies whilst taking to part in role-plays, scenario enactments, group discussions and demonstrations that create an excellent and variety-based learning environment.
Note: Course requires participants to attend 7 full days face-to-face training. Due to course competency requirements relating to role-plays, scenario enactments and restraint demonstrations all full security courses will be restricted to a minimum of 5 students, with a maximum of 10 students ensuring social distancing is maintained.
Pre-requisites

Funding Issues
Funding also may be available through the Queensland Government's certificate 3 Guarantee Boost, assisting unemployed jobseekers or those at risk of unemployment to link with training opportunities to help with finding a job or stay in employment.
To be eligible for funding under the Queensland Government's Certificate 3 Guarantee Program you have to aged 15 years or above and be a permanent resident of Queensland. You must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or temporary resident with the necessary work visa on a pathway to permanent residency. Student Co-Contribution Fees
BARS Training Australia will administer a Student Co-Contribution fee of $10 for concessional students or a Student Co-Contribution fee of $20 for non-concessional students for the course. The administration fee change includes all materials and will be collected from the applicant on submission of a course application. BARS Training Australia will retain any administration fee collected which will be fully refunded or transferred to a future course should a course application fail.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the acknowledgment of skills and knowledge held by an individual as a result of formal training, work experience and /or life experience. The certificate will be delivered through a combination of self-paced learning and face to face group training and assessment. The self-paced learning is to be undertaken prior to participation in the compulsory 8-day face to face assessment.
TRAINING (Phase 1) - The initial training includes a course introduction and preview, where the student will receive information about study support, access to learning resources, flexible scheduling and delivery of training and assessment. Information will also be given to the student about information and communication technology and any other services deemed necessary to support learners to achieve competency.
SELF- PACED LEARNING (Phase 2) - On successful completion to the training session (phase 1) the participant will be required to complete the course underpinning knowledge and project scenario assessments in a workbook or online self-paced learning format. During this minimum 20 days self-paced phase of the course the participant will be on-line video conferencing and phone hook-up support.
In the event a participant is unable to complete the self-paced learning phase of the course prior to the scheduled assessment phase, they will be invited to attend further training sessions in that locally at no cost to the participant.
PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT (Phase 3) - This phase allows participants to be assessed against the required competencies whilst taking to part in role-plays, scenario enactments, group discussions and demonstrations that create an excellent and variety-based learning environment.
