It's important to lodge your firm or individual licence renewal before the expiry date, regardless of the current situation with COVID-19. There is no grace period under the Security Providers Act 2014 to lodge your renewal late.
Late lodgement will result in your application being treated by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) as a new application, meaning by law you cannot work until the new licence is issued.
Old Course No Longer Accepted
The 12-month grace period given by the OFT for applicants completing the training from old CPP07 Training Package prior to 21 January 2020 has now expired. All new applications will now require all 14 modules from the new CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations listed below.
CPPSEC2101 - Apply effective communication skills to maintain security
CPPSEC2102 - Apply legal and procedural requirements to work effectively within a security team
CPPSEC2103 - Apply WHS, emergency response and evacuation procedures to maintain security
CPPSEC2104 - Apply risk assessment to select and carry out response to security risk situations
CPPSEC2105 - Provide quality services to a range of security clients
CPPSEC2106 - Protect self and others using basic defensive techniques
CPPSEC2107 - Patrol premises to monitor property and maintain security
CPPSEC2108 - Screen people, personal effects and items to maintain security
CPPSEC2109 - Monitor and control access and exit of persons and vehicles from premises
CPPSEC2110 - Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour to maintain security
CPPSEC2111 - Apply security procedures to manage intoxicated persons
CPPSEC2112 - Apply security procedures to remove persons from premises
CPPSEC2113 - Escort and protect persons and valuables
HLTAID003 - Provide first aid
Ongoing Training
You will need to complete ongoing training every three years. We will not recognise any prior learning for these units.
When OFT send you your licence, OFT will give you the expiry dates for each ongoing training unit on the licence notice. You must complete these training units again before the expiry dates.
The modules for ongoing training for crowd controllers are:
- CPPSEC3101 Manage conflict and security risks through negotiation
- CPPSEC3121 Control persons using empty hand techniques
- HLTAID006 Provide advanced first aid.
