This program will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to administer first aid to a casualty who has sustained an injury or illness, until the arrival of professional medical help. Legislation in Queensland requires persons working as security officers to be licensed. The Office of Fair Trading administers and issues licenses to successful applicants. Successful completion of HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid is a mandatory requirement for licensing.

This course focuses on practicing this skill on our special CPR mankins (adults, junior and baby mankins). The perform CPR course is conducted over a 3 to 4 hour session.
Target clients of this qualification are new entrants to the security industry seeking to obtain a security officer’s license and potentially a crowd controller’s license.
Legislation in Queensland requires persons working as security officers to be licensed. The Office of Fair Trading administers and issues licenses to successful applicants. Successful completion of HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid is a mandatory requirement for licensing, along with the successful completion of HLTAID009 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation every year.
NOTE - BARS Training Australia is NOT registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Student (CRICOS). The Office of Fair Trading Queensland will not accept a training certificate issued to a student visa holder unless such training is conducted by a CRICOS approved provider. If you are the holder of a Student Visa you will not be enrolled to commence studies with BARS Training Australia.

HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perfomr cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

The competency will be delivered during a 3 to 4 hour face to face group training and assessment session.
The participant will be required to complete the course underpinning knowledge and practical assessments as required by the competency, whilst taking to part in role-plays, scenario enactments, group discussions and demonstrations that create an excellent and variety-based learning environment.
Note: The full course is conducted over appropriately a 3 to 4 hour period.
Pre-requisites
Minimum age for participants is 14 years and have completed a Nationally Recognised First Aid Course within the last 3 years. Participants under the age of 18 are required to provide a consent form completed by their legal guardian.
All participants should also have basic language, literacy and numeracy skills and are required to identify if they require language, literacy and numeracy support prior to enrolment by completing a short language, literacy and numeracy examination.
Participants can also ask for language, literacy and numeracy support during the delivery if they find they are experiencing difficulties. Students must be physically capable of responding to first aid emergency scenarios, including providing CPR to a manikin on the floor. Anyone in a wheelchair or with other disabilities that may impact their participation in these activities should contact us to discuss their individual circumstances before enrolling.
Certificate Validity
The Nationally Recognised Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011) is valid for 3 years with the Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation component covered in the Apply First Aid course.
Note: Participants should re-certify in Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation every 12 months to maintain competency in the skills required in an emergency situation.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to confirm collection requirements, prepare client and equipment and collect specimens via urine and/or oral and breath testing following the special procedures that apply for drugs of abuse testing. Employment pathways include working in drug and alcohol testing at mine sites, transport depots, large industrial sites, medical centres and other workplaces.
This unit applies to individuals working in collection centres, in hospitals, in other health care environments and workplaces where drugs of abuse testing takes place. The learning program is designed to ensure correct procedures are followed when performing onsite drug tests & alcohol breath tests and preparing & packaging a drug or alcohol test specimen for laboratory testing, and specifically covers:
- Introduction
- Drug types and their effects
- Review of Australian Standards (requirements of AS/NZS 4308:2008 or AS 4760-2006)
- Drug testing methods
- Arranging a drug test

Note: Whilst this course will be conducted over 1 day period, the competency requires that the student follows established technical, infection control and safety procedures plus those required by the relevant standard, during collections from at least 3 different clients.
As each student must collect samples from 3 different clients there is a minimum number of student enrolments required before these training sessions can be conducted.

This skill set describes the skills and knowledge required to securely collect, transfer and deliver cash and valuables whilst in transit.
This skill set may provide credit towards CPP31318 Certificate III in Security Operations.

PRE-COURSE WORKBOOK - The participant will be supplied with pre-course material which includes a course introduction and overview, where the student will receive information about study support, access to learning resources, flexible scheduling and delivery of training and assessment.
